Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE) in Business Management

The Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE) in Business Management is designed to enhance students’ business and management skills. A DipHE Business Management is an accessible two-year qualification, which can be a big step towards a business-related degree or a beneficial stand-alone qualification. (FHEQ 240 credits, Level 5.)  


This two-year course enables you to advance to Level 6, final year degree studies and enhances your CV with valuable applied and real-world business skills. 

Year 1: 

In Year 1, you’ll explore the essentials of business within a digital context, gaining insight into international operations, intercultural awareness, and the dynamics of today’s diverse and interconnected marketplace. 
 

Modules include: 

  • Management and Organisational behaviour Essentials 
  • Professional Skills 
  • Digital Business and Contemporary Marketing Practice 
  • Introduction to Finance 

Year 2: 

In Year 2, you’ll deepen your understanding of global citizenship, leadership, and management by applying your skills in practical contexts. New modules will challenge you to design a detailed CRM strategy for a specific business case. 

Modules include: 

  • Business Environments and Operations 
  • Business Data and Information 
  • Managing Customer Relationships 
  • Leadership and Management Decision Making 

This course is delivered through flexible blended learning, combining one day a week on campus with online study you complete at your own pace. 

On-campus sessions are interactive and collaborative, helping you build a solid understanding of key concepts and prepare for your independent online learning. Throughout the week, you’ll continue your studies online, with regular opportunities to connect with academic staff and your Student Success Tutor (SST) for feedback and support. 

On successful completion of a Diploma of Higher Education in Business Management students will be able to:

Knowledge and Understanding

  • Demonstrate a knowledge and a critical understanding of the relationship between theory and practice in the discipline of business management and the broader global context of business.
  • Exhibit a critical and analytical evidence-based knowledge and understanding of the significance of effectively managing customer relationships and their impact on the efficient operation of organisations.
  • Evidence a critical understanding of relevant responsible and ethical issues in a range of business contexts including the handling of business data and information, and responsible leadership, demonstrating an ability to consider the interests and perspectives of different stakeholders, both now and for the future.
  • Demonstrate a critical awareness and understanding of a variety of contemporary and prevalent issues and their impact upon the operational management of organisations.

Subject Specific and Professional Skills (SPS)

  • Develop an understanding of frameworks, theories and principles of business leadership and management to propose effective, inclusive and sustainable resolutions to complex business problems.
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyse and evaluate a range of data, sources of information and appropriate methodologies, which includes the need for strong digital literacy, and to use that research for evidence-based, responsible and ethical decision-making
  • Develop an applied understanding of the role of organisations, entrepreneurs, businesses owners, leaders, and managers in society.
  • Demonstrate the use of initiative, creativity, and commercial acumen to develop proposals in response to specific business scenarios.

Intellectual Skills (IS)

  • Present, evaluate and analyse data and information from a range of sources to make effective judgements about the challenges facing business organisations.
  • Demonstrate an ability to critically select knowledge and the understanding of scholarly frameworks and theories to propose solutions in specified organisational scenarios.
  • Demonstrate an ability to critically understand and systematically evaluate data and information in a logical manner.
  • Utilise digital technology, to convey ideas and arguments effectively to a range of audiences, and demonstrate the ability to write, discuss and present arguments and ideas using appropriate academic conventions.

Transferable Skills (TS)

  • Communicate information, ideas, problems and solutions to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
  • Demonstrate the ability to independently find, apply, evaluate, and use a wide range of information, data, or tools accurately in specified contexts.
  • Demonstrate the ability to evaluate arguments, assumptions, and abstract concepts to identify and address business problems.
  • Demonstrate responsible and ethical digital literacy.
  • Demonstrate an ability to integrate the values of global social responsibility.

Academic Requirements:

Standard Route
96-104 UCAS points, or
A Levels: CCC, or
BTEC Level 3, or
NVQ Level 3, or
Foundation year, or
Access to HE, or
B2 English level, or
Accepted T Levels:  Pass (C or above) 96 UCAS points

Non-Standard Entry
For applicants who do not meet standard academic entry criteria, a flexible entry policy supports:

Non-standard Qualification Route

Any qualification which does not give enough UCAS points within the standard entry route will require the applicant to provide a personal statement, meet mandatory English requirements (see English Language proficiency requirement), submit a CV and an undergo an interview.

Non-standard Work Experience Route
No formal qualifications are required, but applicants must have at least 1 year’s relevant work experience and English proficiency to be able to demonstrate understanding of business theory, effective time management and working with others.

For non-standard entry, an interview is required to assess an applicant’s ability to meet key criteria. For both non-standard routes you will need to provide:
A Personal Statement explaining motivation and experience and an interview to assess readiness for study and a CV.

Employer Reference (or Payslips/P60 or P45) or other relevant documentation if self-employed, is also required for non-standard work experience route only.

Non-standard Cases:

Non-standard cases will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. For example, if the applicant falls below the required UCAS points, a qualified academic will interview the applicant to assess their suitability.

Other relevant and equivalent level 3 UK and international qualifications are considered on an individual basis, and we encourage students from diverse educational backgrounds to apply

English Language Proficiency

Both standard and non-standard entry routes require applicants demonstrate suitable English language skills.

Applicants with international qualifications will need to demonstrate English language proficiency by means of an approved test. However, they will be exempt if they are on the country specific guidelines. 
Duolingo English Test (DET) 105 minimum is accepted alongside other English Tests e.g. IELTS etc

English language exemptions:

  • Anyone born in the UK is exempt.
  • If an applicant has a minimum of 30 credits from a level 2/3 qualification awarded by an approved UK awarding body, then they are exempt from the English test.

You are advised to make your application for student finance as soon as possible after the application process. You can amend or cancel your application at a later date if necessary. 

At TLG, assessments are designed to help you apply your learning in practical and meaningful ways. You’ll complete a range of coursework and project-based tasks such as reports, case studies, plans, portfolios, and presentations – both individual and group. 

There are no formal exams for this Diploma. Instead, we use interactive learning activities such as quizzes, discussions, debates, and mini case studies to help you develop your skills and build confidence throughout the course.
