Chai Yi Lai, a.k.a Michelle, the final winner of our #TLGCourseWin competition, has spent her final week in the capital. We caught up with her to find out what she thought of her experience here, and what she got up to in her last week in the city.

Making the most of her final few days, Michelle journeyed just outside of central London, to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour. Here you can discover the sets, props, and costumes from the Harry Potter films. “On Monday I went to the Harry Potter studios. From looking around at everything there, you could tell how much effort went into making those movies. All the painting and all of the costumes were very impressive.”

“My Hogwarts house is Slytherin! Everyone else was so into Gryffindor- I didn’t want to be the same.” Michelle said.

On Wednesday Michelle went to Oxford, a city not far from London. She was attending a wedding there. “I feel like I got to experience real English culture in Oxford, it was so nice. I walked around the university and the castle, which the wedding was next to.”

“Oxford really felt like a small London, I’m glad I got to visit. It is a very pretty place.” She added.

One of Michelle’s favourite things in London was the Maltby Street Market, near London Bridge: “It is a food market run by all the communities from around the neighbourhood. I tried the steak and chips there. English people are very good at making chips and frying things!” She said.

“This week, I also went to the Natural History Museum, it was really worth visiting, they have a lot of things to see and learn about there. All of the museums around that area have very interesting architecture.”

“I really wanted to see the mummies in the British Museum, but I haven’t managed to go!” Michelle added.

“Today I’m planning to go to a street market in King’s Cross. Then I need to start packing my luggage. I am leaving this Sunday, I have mixed feelings about it. I have basically done everything that I wanted to do though, and it’s been a really positive experience.”

Everyone at TLG is very glad to hear that Michelle enjoyed her time with us, and her stay in London.

We wish her all the best for the future!
