REGIONAL ACADEMICS AND COMPLIANCE DIRECTOR
My name is Mark. I’m the Regional Academics and Compliance Director for TLG. I was raised in a house where 3 languages were spoken (English, French and Spanish) and, in addition to studying linguistics and working in translation, both my parents taught ELT! Because of this, I felt a natural inclination to get into teaching language, but not before first completing my BFA at Concordia University, with distinction.
After this, I switched my focus fulltime to ELT. I completed my CELTA at ILSC Montreal and remained living in the city and working there as one of ILSC’s core teachers and their business English teacher. Overall, I have been teaching for 7 years, and, since moving to Toronto,
I have been working in academic coordination and directing for the last 4 years. In addition to language, I have a passion for music and helping people. I love to chat with our students and aid them in finding the right educational course to fit their needs and reach their goals!
Alexia 'Ale' Galanopoulos, was born and raised in Toronto and is of Colombian/Greek descent. From the age of 17 years old she has held several positions over her career in the international education industry consisting of 9 years at ILAC and the last 5 years with Sprachcaffe Geos Languages Plus as the Managing Director. She was also Director of Operations and Business Development for 10 of its ESL branches across Canada and the United States.
She simultaneously acted as the Managing Director of Inside Exploration Inc., holder of 2 outbound educational agencies, Languages Abroad and Teenagers Abroad dedicated to giving Canadians and Americans the same study abroad experiences that our inbound students receive upon entering North America. An only child born into a family where her parents had always been a homestay family, Alexia has never known a day in her life where she was not surrounded by international students, she frequently jokes: ‘I have been in training my whole life for this career’!
Having graduated with a triple major in Spanish translation, literature, International Development/ Relations and Political Science she is passionate about networking, marketing, and the wellbeing of newcomers to North America. She dedicates her life, both professional and personal, to supporting internationally inclusive events and associations for several communities across the globe. Alexia speaks English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and is always trying to improve her Greek.
PROGRAMME CONSULTANT / SENIOR EXECUTIVE
Marcela Salazar was born in Medellin, Colombia; based in Toronto since 2014. She graduated with honors from the Interaction Design and Development program at George Brown College. After graduation she started freelancing as a graphic designer, which she has always been passionate about. Shortly after she started working at SC GEOS Languages Plus as the accommodations officer and marketing advisor, before joining The Language Gallery in 2018 as a program consultant and consecutively senior executive support.
Being an international student herself allows her to relate to new and potential students; she knows how important it is to have a trustworthy source of information when going abroad, and having gone through the process herself helped her become that reliable person for them.’
PATHWAYS DIRECTOR AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE
Olga 'Olguita' Maracheva, born in Moscow, Russia came to Toronto as a young 17 year old international student (actually as Alexia's student)! She herself has gone through the many levels of an international student, starting as a general English learner, passing through the High School Pathways, University Pathway Program, graduating with honors from a Toronto College and then interning prior to being hired as the Pathways Director for SC GEOS Languages Plus.
She, there, grew to the professional young lady that she is today, with a fierce knowledge of the ins and outs of international student at the post-secondary Canadian and American education system. Olga dedicates her life to helping International students succeed in whatever their future goals may be by consulting and placing them in top programs across North America.
She is passionate about travelling, human and equal rights and frequently volunteers for various International Film Festivals throughout the year in Toronto. She joins her first 4 weeks at TLG by going directly into her first events at ICEF Moscow and ICEF Kazakhstan. Olga speaks, English, Russian, Spanish and is actively learning French.
Student Services Coordinator
Hi! My name is Jennifer and I’m the Student Services Coordinator at The Language Gallery. I was born in Toronto and raised just outside of the city. I love planning the social events calendar and showing students all of the great things that Toronto has to offer. It is a wonderfully diverse city and there is always something exciting to do! A little about me - I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Toronto & a post-grad diploma in Social Services from George Brown College. After school, I spent a year abroad teaching English in Korea & travelling in Asia - so I know first-hand how rewarding and exciting it is to move to a new country. In my spare time I do yoga, spend time with my family & volunteer with a women’s organization. I hope to meet you soon!

Mariana believes that the quality of customer service is the key between good, bad and indifferent companies. Mariana is a mother of 3 handsome boys and loves spending time with family and friends and travelling.
