Hi! My name’s Jeni and I’m the Birmingham school's Academic Manager. I’ve worked training teachers and running schools all over the world, including in Japan and Russia, as well as the UK. I have also spent the last four years in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, so I’m looking forward to some cool British weather! I’m a mad sports fan, particularly football, tennis, and Formula 1. I really hope we can welcome some Liverpool fans this year--we need the support! I love playing badminton, swimming, and have a real passion for amateur dramatics, and even appeared in the fantastic Edinburgh Festival once. I look forward to meeting and welcoming you to our school!
Accommodation and Welfare Manager
I'm here to help students with any accommodation queries. I've had 4 years’ experience helping students find accommodation to enhance their experience in the UK. Before this I was teaching in France, so I understand how scary it can be in a new country. I'm also the Welfare Officer for the school and I’m here to be a friendly face if you need to talk about your problems.
Student Engagement Officer
Hi, I’m Malika. I have been teaching English since 2011 in the UK, working with a wide range of young learners and adults from all over the world. I joined the TLG team in 2012 and have enjoyed every single minute of it. The intercultural ‘melting pot’ environment we work in is just amazing.
Hey, I’m Benedict, but you can call me Ben. I started teaching at the Language Gallery in September 2016 after almost six years in Italy. I studied Latin and ancient Greek at university, so am fascinated by the intricate patterns of languages and the ways they interlink with one another, reflecting the cultures of their native users. During my time in Italy, I learned Italian to a creditable standard so can empathise with how tough it can be to learn a foreign language, but also relate to how exciting, enriching, and liberating it is. Outside class, I am really into reading a wide range of literature, watching movies (especially top-drawer rom-coms), playing Scrabble, supporting my tennis idol Roger Federer, and running. I look forward to getting to know you and hearing your insightful opinions and unique outlooks on the world.
My name is Dimitris and I am an ESL Teacher at The Language Gallery in Birmingham. I qualified as a language teacher in 2004 and I started teaching in 2007. So far, I have taught English in Spain, Italy, and the UK. I was born in Greece but I have lived in several European countries. I like music, cinema and literature, and I am a keen language learner.
My name is Shirley and I have been teaching English for many years. I have worked in Turkey, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Indonesia. They were all wonderful locations where I was fortunate to meet amazing students from all walks of life and gain a deep insight into their cultures. I specialise in teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and university and exam preparatory courses, but I have also taught business English, hospitality English, and general English. When I am not teaching, I love travelling to new places and also watching football, especially Leicester City and Stoke City!
Hi I’m Rebecca. I’ve been teaching English for about 3 years, and I lived in Spain for 2 years, teaching teenagers and adults. Two of my grandparents were language teachers so I’ve always been interested in learning and teaching myself. I love football and I am a fan of Macclesfield Town (don’t worry: not many people have heard of them!).
Hi, I’m Steve. After briefly working in the oil industry, I have been working as an EFL teacher since 2008, and have taught in South Korea, China, Ukraine and Vietnam, as well as here in Birmingham. It was my love of travelling and meeting new people that inspired me to start teaching. I find that greeting new students and learning about their cultures is the best part of my job. I look forward to working with you at TLG!
Hello, I’m Luke. I’ve been teaching English since 2010. I taught in Korea and Hungary before coming back to the UK. I enjoy being a part of the TLG team and am committed to helping students improve their English skills. Especially their IELTS band scores...!
